BLOGTASTIC

My top 3 Blogs

I am really enjoying reading all different blogs about how people are dealing, what part of the assignment they are up to and all their light bulb moments in between. After looking at a range of different ones I have narrowed it down to my top 3.

1. Jessica Bishop’s Blog – https://jess682167292.wordpress.com/

I was instantly drawn to Jess’s blog as the pictures and the big headings drew me in. When I first read her introduction I was really intrigued as she explained that she was in the defence force before she had a family. This resonated with me as the defence force was definitely one of the options I wanted to take, because as she said you get paid to travel the world! I also found her company GKN highlights to be quite interesting as only 6000 staff serve North Queensland. She has also posted a segment on the possible takeover from her company which was interesting to read about. Overall I believe that Jess has done a terrific job and I cannot wait to see more blogs and I am also considering using one of her drafts to provide feedback with for step 6.

2. Louise – https://twopointoh.school.blog/

Louise’s blog was the first person to have really interacted with my blog so I in return I looked over hers and instantly loved it. I especially love the post ‘PASS, the ace up my sleeve’ because I myself found it to be very useful as well (Also just loved the heading!). The way Louise would write down her thoughts and research was very engaging which made it more enjoyable reading about another company. By adding in links and videos to her posts made it much simpler to get your head around. Overall her posts are very entertaining as she makes reading about companies and annual reports fun.

3. Kassidy Rose – https://kassidyhinton.home.blog/

This last blog really hit home for me as Kassidy is still in year 11 and completing this subject through CQU’s SUN Program. I myself did 2 subjects through this program when I was in year 11 as well so I am glad to see others doing it as well. When Kassidy mentioned already feeling behind in her second post I could really relate. Kassidy’s wording throughout her blogs are really engaging and I think it is because she is being so honest. She was especially honest when she talked about how she wasn’t that into Peerwise. Which I understand because if I’m honest I haven’t touched it since week 1. In summary, I am intrigued to see how Kassidy grows through this subject and wish her all the best.

Midnight Magic

Last night I was on a bit of a roll and was able to hand a draft into Studiosity. As well as finish all of my step 4.

I was having so many flashbacks to high school to when I was doing my final ever accounting assignment. I used to get so much adrenaline out of putting figures into excel spreadsheets and having everything balance because of course this meant your equations were correct and everything was just superb. (I sound like the biggest nerd saying i get adrenaline from numbers). However, it took me a while to finish the last spreadsheet because I was just getting so frustrated with the fact that I didn’t understand what was being subtracted or added.

Luckily God looked down on me and gave me a saving grace….. PASS. I attended last nights PASS session where a few of us discussed things to do with the assignment . I mentioned how I was having trouble with excel, and the lovely Danielle that was running the sessions helped me to break things down and get back to the fundamentals of accounting equations.

This helped tremendously as I was able to persevere and at 12 o’clock I had finally finished step 4…and yes I squealed like a little girl I was so happy .

BUT WAIT THERES MORE…

I woke up this morning to an email that said my draft from Studiosty was already ready to collect. So, today is just fabulous. I am extremely impressed with how fast my work got returned and all the feedback I have received regarding grammar and word choice.

Guess who is FiNaLlY making Waves…..

Me that’s right I finally finished a part of Step 3.

In this Step 3 Draft I have only included a discussion of RELX’s Annual Report, things I found interesting about the company and my KCQ’s. I am bout to submit it to Studiosity tonight as well.

Tomorrow my plan is to finish all of Step 3 and 4.

Thanks for staying posted. Feel free to message me f you would like to exchange feedback for Step 6 as well. Good luck!

The Nitty-Gritty Parts

So, it is currently week 4 and boy it is getting hectic. Trying to balance full time work, my side job, studies and still have a life is getting a bit overwhelming. However, I am trying to get everything together. But, if I’m really honest I am so over annual reports. There really needs to be two types of reports, one with all technical terms and one that is broken down so that people doing assignments on them can gain a lot of the important facts and not get bogged down with the overload of information.

At least we are all in this together but I cant wait to be able to hand this first assignment in.

The First Leap

Welcome to My Journey through ACCT11059!

I am 18 years old and live in a small mining town called Weipa which is located near the tip of Queensland. This year I am starting my very first year of university, studying a Bachelor of Business and Professional Communications majoring in Marketing at CQUniversity.

A bit about me:

I work for my mums real estate and law practice where I have worked towards and received my real estate certificate. I have also just opened my very own small hair accessory business called The Scrunchie Studio. I use the business as a type of therapy that allows me to step away from writing or typing and just be creative and and use my hands in a different way. I feel like this degree could help me grow my business and put things I learn into practice. I also really enjoy travelling and I hope to travel the world once I graduate university and have saved up enough.

All through senior high school I loved accounting and was the only one who did it and therefore had to do it by distance. I always found it so satisfying when numbers would balance and I enjoyed the confidence boost I would get form actually understanding different concepts in depth.

I am very excited to be finally studying this subject as it is only a introductory level course but still enable me to put my knowledge to the test and push me further.

Feel free to join me on my journey and read about how I am travelling along.
